Newk's and the Zoo...What's New

Today the crew headed to Newk's....our favorite place to eat lunch. We were bored and decided to go to the zoo. What a HUGE mistake!! It was soooooo HOT!! I mean what were we thinking the zoo...August... East Texas.

We usually always go right after lunch and the animals are all sleepy, and lazy. Today we went a little later and it was perfect we saw them all. The best part of the day was the reptile house, it was so cool in there I could have stayed in there forever!!

I really thought the babies were going to stroke out in their strollers, you don't realize how hot those things are. The poor things were soaking wet when we took them out. Even with the heat, it was fun. Oh and my son wants a Meerkat for a pet, let me know if you know where I can find one!!

Boys and their Toys!

Today Ryan called on his way home and said, "send Barrett outside". Barrett runs out to find a new toy.........

He bought a new Polaris Ranger. We have always had one and a few months ago he sold our last one. At the time he said we never really use it so I'm gonna sell it. Me, "okay". Last week he said I'm going to get the new HD ranger for our Elk trip to New Mexico. Oh....so when you said you were selling the old one because we didn't use it, it was really cause you knew there was a new one coming out. Just kidding Honey!!!! Barrett is in hog.. err I mean Ranger heaven.

Cousin Love

Today Christie and I went to lunch at Posado's with the kids. Afterwards Christie and Mary Michael came to visit. Barrett was so excited he told Christie, " I'm just obsessed with Mary Michael, I love her so much! I want you to take Jack and us to keep Mary Michael."

Well Barrett I think we will keep the children arrangements "as is". But I also love this "little lady" very much, and will take her any day!!!

Like Father, Like Son

Well it's back to reality for my boy's and I. I took another hiatus from blogging for a family vacation to Florida. More to come on the vacation later, but for now I thought I would share my darling son. Each day he proves to be more and more like his Dad. And let me just say, that is a wonderful thing!! Since we were out of town for a week the yard really needed some attention, and Barrett couldn't wait to get to it.

Ryan and Barrett mowed, edged, trimmed plants and cleaned up the whole yard. Still that was not enough outdoor activity for my little man. He and Ryan got out the four wheelers, Ryan has a small trailer that goes on the back to work with. Barrett has to do everything his Daddy does. I have to give him credit he is so smart.

This child amazes me. He did this on his own, sometimes I have to remind myself he is only four. His work ethic astonishes me, he definitely gets that from his Dad.......Like Father, Like Son!!

Lola Belle

I wanted to do a little post about our beloved French Bull dog Lola. She is the only female in this house with me and I love her dearly. Two weeks ago at the beach Lola was her normal self; running, jumping, etc. On Sat. the 4th of July she slowed down a bit and we thought she was just tired. On Sunday she was just slow and didn't walk around much. My mom thought she was hot and we put her inside the beach house she didn't move off the couch all day. She wouldn't eat anything, not even shrimp! Ryan was headed back to Lindale to work and I had him take Lola with him. He said when he got home she laid on her bed until the next morning and didn't move. Monday morning she couldn't stand up on her own.

Ryan took her to our local vet in Lindale Dr. B. He ran every test he could for two days and he found nothing. On her x-rays it looked like there might have been some fluid around her spine. He recommended she see a neurologist in Dallas. So after alot of work Dr. B got her an appt. in Dallas. Ryan took her and they began their work to see what was wrong. They explained she needed and MRI. Let me just say those are expensive not to mention if they found anything that would be more money to fix whatever was wrong. Ryan and I thought we had to do it, our only other option was to put her to sleep. So Lola had the MRI and they found a herniated disk. The Dr.'s said they don't know how she was bearing the pain, she had never even made a whimper. It was one of the worst cases they had seen. Lola had spinal surgery and is now making a recovery.

Lola is now classified as an investment!! LOL! We are so happy she is okay and doing well. It looks like she will be back to herself in no time!! That is good thing because she has two little boys that love her and can't wait to chase her around!
